Elizabeth L. Marconi, 95, formerly of Park Avenue, died Monday morning (Dec. 18, 2017) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born Feb. 17, 1922 in Lamont, the daughter of the late Steve and Elizabeth (Horvath) Gabriel. On April 3, 1940, in Kane, she married John Marconi who preceded her in death in 1989.
Mrs. Marconi had been active in the First United Methodist Church, the PTA and the Cub Scouts. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as the bookkeeper for Kane Lumber and Fuel.
Surviving relatives include one daughter, Anita (Karl) Rietter of Southwest Ranches, FL; two sons Roger (Patti) Marconi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and John (Betsy) Marconi of Kane; one daughter- in-law, Jo Ellen Marconi of Palo, Iowa and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son Henry Marconi; one granddaughter Malanea Marconi; three brothers, Cy, Eddie and Louie Gabriel and five sisters, Pauline Johnston, Olga Savoia, Mary Husarik, Helen Zampogna and Lillian Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Thomas Kane memorial Chapel on Chestnut Street, with the Rev. David Pflieger officiating. Following graveside services at Forest Lawn Cemetery, a luncheon will be held at Grandma Bair's Banquet Hall.
