James J. Morgan, 79, of 9152 Rte 6, Lantz Corners, passed away on Feb. 20, 2015 at UPMC-Hamot in Erie. He was born on Aug. 16, 1935 in Halsey the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Rendosh) Morgan. On July 22, 1961 in Mt. Jewett, he married June (Wallin) Morgan who survives.
He was a graduate of Kane Area High School and had served in the US Army. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mt. Jewett, the Mt. Jewett Sportsman Club and the Mt. Jewett Veteran's Memorial Club.
Mr. Morgan had been employed by the Railroad, the PA State Highways as an inspector, Corning Glass, Dale Electronics and Temple-Inland. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and carving birds.
Surviving relatives include one son, Craig Morgan of Johnsonburg; four grandsons, Christopher, Brett, Pierce and Marcus Morgan; and one great-grandson, Joshua; two brothers, John Morgan of Sayre, and Edward (Jennifer) Morgan of Campbelltown; one sister-in-law, Mary Morgan of James City and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Mark J. Morgan; one brother Joseph Morgan and two sisters, Kathryn Hasney and Ann Morgan.
Friends will be received on Monday (Feb 23) from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home in Mt. Jewett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Vincent Cieslewicz, pastor, as celebrant. Military services and burial will follow at Nebo Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Mt. Jewett Sportsman Club or St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
